Justin Buckingham began music from a very early age as a choir soloist in the St Aloysius' Xavier and Motet choirs. In this role he embarked upon a tour of Europe in 1995 and performed at the Opera House, the Entertainment Centre and for Prime Minister John Howard, as well as countless weddings and other engagements.
At the age of 13 he began to learn the saxophone under David Gwilliam. A few years later he commenced tutition with Richard Maegraith and from this a life-long love of jazz was born.
Since leaving school he has completed a Bachelor of Music (Education) (Hons) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Justin culminated his studies with a thesis examining different ways of teaching and learning jazz improvisation for beginners.
Since mid-way through his degree, Justin began to teach saxophone and clarinet and does so to this day. He teaches at one primary school and two high schools in the greater Sydney area.
Justin has performed with many different ensembles. He has performed at the Wine Banq, Star City's Astral Bar, the American Club, Statement Bar, Quay Bar, Hilton Hotels and many other bars, clubs and function centres.
Justin's passion is his music and all facets of it- performing, composing, teaching, listening and social sides. He constantly seeks to improve himself and to ensure that above all his music is an immensely enjoyable experience for both himself and those with which he interacts.
